I used to have a friend who was very into ecology and green living. She was much more health oriented than me and I felt sometimes I wasn’t doing enough when I compared myself to her. But later I was able to start noticing some things about her that made me wonder whether she was indeed so worthy following. I admit, nobody is perfect and there are times when we may be tired or lazy but there are things as fundamental as ethics that need not be neglected. So how does compare being eco savvy and green living when you are, at the same time, living beyond your means, creating debt that you know you won’t be able to repay?
I noticed that there is a whole layer in this society that exhibits a strong sense of entitlement. First of all, let’s make it clear, sense of entitlement, in my humble opinion and in its pejorative connotation, is…
- when someone assumes she deserves whatever she wants without any effort on her part
- when someone demands certain things without showing any gratitude once he has received them
- when someone wants and asks for anything that he doesn’t actually deserve/or has means to own it but demands to have them
