This is not a joke, I intend this to be about the real goddess residing within you. Being a woman is an ecstatic and blissful experience if you allow yourself fully embrace your own femininity.
It may appear blasphemous at first to view oneself as a goddess because of the conditioning we received when we were growing up. We were told we were never good enough, we were dirty, sinful, you name it. Many of us learned to view the fact that we are women as a problem. We were told that only girls cry and that women are weak or that their emotions are out of control. Our monthly bleeding was also perceived as a shameful physiological act that needs to be kept secret. A whole industry was set in motion to make women believe they need to act as if they didn’t have menses and could live their life as if they were men, always active and on the go. Interestingly, the fact that when we menstruate we go deep within ourselves was overlooked. The very essence of our power – intuition -was ridiculed and made into a weakness.
As a teenage girl I thought men had power over women and I truly detested it. I was rebellious and angry. I saw the world as a miserable place where women were treated unfairly and with cruelty. I thought I would be better off as a man and I hated my body and was very hard on myself. Over the years I eventually accepted who I was I and discovered that being a woman was a beautiful thing. I found out I was a life giver, a nurturer and a healer. I came to trust my intuition and love other women, too, rather than compete with them and judge them. It was a long process and I went through some mind shifting and soul searching to come to embrace my womanhood and the goddess within.
I came to understand that we are created as a fractal of the divine intelligence that pervades ALL THINGS. Our existence is interconnected with the Universe’s existence and we are truly a part of the greater whole. Now, if you agree with this, you should realize that we indeed are expressions of the female aspect of the Universe and the goddess is within us.
Many cultures and religions have incorporated the aspect of a goddess as a part of their canon. If you look at Hinduism you will find many goddesses exhibiting one or more expressions of the divine. Parvati is known as wife to Shiva and a goddess of power; Lakshmi is a goddess of light and beauty. Celtic Europe worshipped the goddess before Christianity entered the scene.
Accepting the part of us that is divine is so liberating! Seeing yourself as a goddess is truly life changing. One of the changes I observed was my different approach to sexuality and to how I perceived men. I stopped seeing them as insensitive and unemotional beings who couldn’t understand the depths of my soul. Instead, I chose to view them as expressions of the god and accept that they were different from us. The men’s bodies and psychology are different and yet they can complete us if we choose to honor the divine aspect of one another . I could finally see the beauty of the cosmic dance between the energies of feminine and masculine.
Feeling the goddess within I noticed how emancipating it was to like sex and enjoy the mental, physical and emotional union with a man. I could no longer hold back and act timid. My sexuality finally resurfaced and has brought me many unexpected joys. My heightened awareness has changed how I see my life, too. From feeling a victim I went to being an empowered and a happy woman. Enjoying the body I am in and its many gifts.
